Swing Kids:Take Two
It is Wednesday night, once again so Heather and I headed off to Swing Kids. Last week was very successful for the two of us. We learned a really neat move called the whirly-bird and we both danced with a bunch of different fellows. In fact, Heather found herself a pretty dancer boy named Ryan! She finds him completely beautiful (true, he is attractive...even more so because he can dance well). For an entire week the both of us couldn't WAIT for Swing Kids to come around again. Heather ran into pretty dancer boy (which is what we call Ryan now) on her way home from theater. He remembered her and told her he'd be at Swing kids this week! She was very very very excited. I was terribly excited for Swing Kids because Elliott, the boy from my dance class, had walked with me for a few days and we'd been talking about going swing dancing. He even had mentioned wanting to go get ice cream or something before, so yes. I was very excited.
Well, then came tonight and ice cream didn't happen (probably because we never planned it) and it was slightly disappointing, but I got over it. Heather and I went to Swing Kids and we learned the basic steps all over again (much more poorly taught today). After the hour of instruction, the both of us were still looking for the two guys to arrive. So we poked our heads into the country dancing room and didn't find them. Soooo we went back to Swing Kids and bounced around and Heather danced with this one guy, while I danced with another guy who asked me to teach him the Lindy Hop. I really don't know too much about Lindy, I just dance. I'm not any good at teaching people. Buuut, I figured I might be able to teach him how to do the whirly-bird. So we tried and we managed to practically do it once. Unfortunately when we went to do it again, he tried to spin me the wrong way, so it jerked me back and my neck snapped and pinched a nerve.
Wow. I have never felt anything that painful shoot through my head and neck in an instant. I don't think he really realized for a few minutes how much that really hurt. I tried telling the guy that I pinched a nerve and I had to sit down, but he just wanted to dance! So I walked away pressing my fingers to my neck and drank practically my entire bottle of water and wanted to die. The guy, whose name I promptly forgot after he told it to me, crouched on the floor next to me, despite my insistance that I would be fine in about ten minutes. Eventually he left and Heather and I spent most of the time sitting outside of the dance while I curled up in a ball and clutched the back of my head. It hurt really bad. I still have the most incredible headache ever. My leg even started aching for a while there. Weird.
The two boys never showed up.
I have no idea where Ryan was, but I talked to Elliott on facebook. He had a softball game so I guess he's pardoned for the evening.
What a night.
And now it's off to study so I can be pepared for my exam tomorrow and for my lit class!

My first blog
Technically this isn't my first blog, seeing as I've had and maintained an xanga blog for over four years now.
But here I am in college and I've found that I might as well make a new blog that is more accessible to people other than the only friend that reads my xanga.
College. It sounds so grown up, yet I hardly feel that old. I've been gone over two weeks already but it still feels like I'm just away from home for some sort of summer camp (despite the cold weather). My roommate, Heather, is beyond amazing. I feel as if I've known her for ages, which is a wonderful. My other three roommates are really fun, though we don't hang out much. I know Shalee the best, and then probably Shelly followed by Kelli. Over all, the five of us get along really well. It's fun. We goof off and make fun of things.
As for Idaho and how I'm liking it? I love it here. It's getting a bit chilly for my taste, but it's fine, I can deal. The campus of BYU-Idaho is amazing. I love the size, the style, the landscape, the location. I love it. The gardens are wonderful Heather and I went there last week and took a whole bunch of pictures. It was really fun. We have tons of fun together no matter what we do.
Last week I reeeally wanted to go to the swing night that BYU has every Wednesday. I wanted Heather to come with me, but she didn't want to go all that much. BUT, being a great friend and roommate, Heather came with me. It took more coaxing to get her to actually start dancing and learning, but she did! And, surprise surprise, we left Swing Kids when it ended and Heather had fallen in love. There's a boy named Ryan who she met there and she's completely smitten. It's really cute and fun to watch her talk about "the pretty dancer boy". And now she wants to come to every Swing Kids! This is good for me, considering the guy I like is going to be there.
Speaking of Elliott, he's amazing. Well, he's not perfect and I don't know a whole lot about him (yet) but thus far I'm pretty stoked for this 'crush'. I'm sure there'll be more about him later. As for now, I'm off to study for my Anatomy& Physiology exam.
